So, yeah, a lot of music & art goes on Underground in the NYC Subways but so does the annual “No Pants Subway Ride”!!!
The 10th annual No Pants Subway Ride returns! The small prank orchestrated among friends has elevated into an international streaking of the Metro System. The warped minds of Improv Everywhere, invite residents to bare it all on Sunday, January 9th! Whip out the razors and wake up those legs from winter hibernation. The New York stop of the Global No Pants Subway Ride will kick off in various stations at 3 p.m. Participants must arrive on time to receive instruction and team assignment. In order for the event to be successful, founder, Charlie Todd , warns riders must not acknowledge their pant-less-peers. (courtesy, ‘Going.com’)

Hi everyone! Merry Merry & Happy everything else that you celebrate out there above ground :)Last night, Christmas Eve, I busked 59th St and the vibe was nothing short of magical. People returning from shopping, headed out to holiday parties, all smiling and wishing me a Merry Christmas. Such a joyous underground 🙂 I also had a gift of some good new this week. I had not see Danny, (the ‘Underground Pavorotti of Soul’ as I call him) in a long while and his phone was out & for the past 4-5 days I’d been worried sick about him. I looked everywhere for him underground but could not see or hear him anywhere. And the thing is Danny never misses a day – ever. He sings the trains 7 days a week 1-4 hrs a day 365 days a year. So, yeah, I was definitely worried.

Finally, last night after I packed up, right before I hopped on the train, I asked a couple who were playing the Downtown side of 59th if they had seen him. “Oh, yeah, Danny, I seen him yesterday. Yeah – he’s good. His phone’s all messed up though. He’s just been movin’ ’round ‘some cause of the cold” omg – you have no idea what a relief getting that news was. I had been so worried I’d been imagining a life w/out seeing or hearing Danny and it felt more than crushing to me. I will definitely be grabbing his address and contact info for his band so I’ll never have to worry needlessly again.

Big sigh of relief! Thank God he’s alright. To hear he’s just fine was the best Xmas gift ever.

Below are a few shots of my friends Juan Carlos and Duane spending Xmas afternoon @ Rockefeller Center gawking at the tree and lights 🙂 Marry Christmas!

So, beyond being filmed by El Molino Online TV, today was a lucrative & super fun day underground 2day including another marriage proposal, complete w/ dollar bill ring! It’s probably all on Youtube by now – so if u catch it somewhere, Tweetme! : )

Everything, including books these days are so homogenized, pasteurized, modified, and packaged by the major media and corporations telling us what we want to hear so they can sell the most product.
Not Ms. Kole! She fights “the establishment,” tells it like it is and gives us a real glimpse into the vibrant and thrilling world that exists in the New York underground, a world most of us New Yorkers just walk on by without giving it another thought. Her funny and engaging stories are a real breath of fresh air in a stagnating literary world. Bravo to Ms. Kole for doing something real! NYCQTA ~

Friend – “So, you been in jail?”

Me -“Me? No!”

Friend –Really? …Wow just seems like you’d be someone who’d been to jail…”

(One of my rapper friends while we were walkin’ along in Times Square havin’ a discussion on music, the street…being arrested & the like.)

NOTE: I’m takin’ ideas on the ‘right’ response to this?  Ideas? Please, do share … : )
