Heidi Kole - Biography
Heidi, originally from Washington, DC, often called a Renaissance woman, is a singer/songwriter, actress, dancer, voice-over talent, stunt person for film/TV and author. She lives her life avidly absorbing humanity and creating her art from her day to day observations and experiences.
Heidi began her career in musical theater, landing her first professional acting job at the age of 15 touring with The Green Mountain Guild in Vt. For the next two summers Heidi toured with the Guild, performing with some of the best actors and actresses in the business, including Timothy Busfield, (Emmy Award-winning actor known for his work on "Thirtysomething", "The West Wing", "Ed" etc), and Gabriel Barre (Tony Award nominated factor or his role in “Starmites”. Known also for his roles in Barmun, “Law & Order”, “Fame” etc)
From that early start, Heidi continued to sing, act and dance in productions at local theaters and Universities, including landing leading roles in both American and Georgetown Universities’ annual musicals. In her final year of high school, Heidi toured up and down the East Coast with a lead role in a National Gospel Musical, “Peace Child”
After college, her move to NYC gave Heidi a chance to broaden her horizons, employing more of her abilities in both musical theater, voice-over work for TV and radio, as well as for National TV, as a singer/dancer for Liberty Weekend.
It was not long after her first television appearance that Heidi, an avid athlete as well as dancer and gymnast, broke into stunt work landing her first job on the TV Series “Rescue 911”, followed by stunts on, “The West Wing”., “Lassie”, “First Kid”, “Now And Then”, and “Damages” to name a few.
As she continued to pursue all her creative outlets to date, Heidi’s urge to express her own thoughts and ideas grew stronger, and she turned to songwriting, She began with two full length musicals which reached the finals in a DC playwriting contest, and soon turned to stand alone songs, settling into what has now become, along with her singing voice, her most truthful mode of self-expression to date. Heidi’s club dates have included CBGB'S, The Orange Bear, Tobacco Road, The "C" Note, DTUT (NYC) and Staccatto Bar and Lounge, Whitlows On Wilson, Iota Club and Bar (DC) and Le Volume (France)... Heidi’s songwriting credits include songs that hold both opening and closing credit spots in a number of films.
Heidi’s most recently published book, The Subway Diaries, documents her personal and artistic transformation, as well as deep sociological observations made as a busker in the New York City Subway System, after being thrown, through circumstance, into that magical subterranean world.
These days, Heidi lives in NYC and splits her time between her life as a busker in the NYC Subways, National and International club dates, private performance events, radio, TV, theater and film bookings, book signings of The Subway Diaries and recording her soon to be released album. Despite her busy performance and recording schedule, Heidi always returns to the underground for what she loves the most; human connection through music.
